Breaking up is hard to do. But fun to watch.

Video GrabOne thing I love about the coffee shop is that it’s always full of interesting people to watch. Sitting with my headphones in, people naturally assume that I’m listening to music. Sure, the occasional head nod to a fictitious tune adds to the effect, but it isn’t really necessary. The best part is that after a few initial comments that would get the eavesdropping motors running, they assume I’m not listening to them, and will say just about anything in front of me.

Pre-holiday ramblings

As I sit here in my cubicle, surfing the internet and listening to my fellow cube-ites “working,” it’s all I can do to stay awake. It’s the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, and everyone in the office is screwing around. There’s Christmas music on every station on the radio. There’s a station in Phoenix that began playing all Christmas music 24 hours a day back at the beginning of November, I retaliated by deleting it from my car presets. Now they’re even sprinkling it in on Last.fm. Suck. It was my last hope for not hating the holidays and now it’s gone. I hope they’re happy. At least there’s the iPod.

Can you even see the front of that thing?

Rant SignThis morning I was almost run over by yet another unqualified driver, and I just don’t feel like the tiny beep-beep of my horn was enough of a cry against the onslaught. I hope that this site doesn’t end up becoming one of those rant-a-day sites, but I can be quiet no more. I have a bone to pick, and it isn’t with someone you usually associate with, um, bone picking. I have a problem with the Soccer Mom.

What!? A complaint against that bastion of parental involvement? What am I, a communist? Are apple pie and hot dogs next? No. Not until I get run over by an apple pie or a hot dog.

Religion meets science. Or math. Or something.

I came across this while backing up my files the other day. Back when the DaVinci Code movie came out there was a big to do about whether or not Jesus was married. In response to a comment on a forum I made this little image and posted it.

While I didn’t get a lot of positive feedback from some of the admins of the forum, I had several husbands email me privately telling me they enjoyed it.

Hopefully, you do too.

Jesus Proof

Cheers.

Clowns are the new devil.

I forgot it was Halloween.

I was up very late last night working on one of my last freelance projects, and woke up exhausted. The shower didn’t wake me up, and I think I slept through my drive to the coffee shop and most of the transaction. After receiving my coffee from the barista, I turned around and came face to face with a giant clown. Face paint, big red afro, hot-dog stand colored outfit, the whole bit. It scared the crap out of me.

I almost beat him down with my shiny metal travel mug.

It’s not that I’m afraid of clowns mind you, but I really think there should be a rule: If you’re taller than, say, 6′3″, you probably shouldn’t dress up like a clown and stand really close to people who are obviously sleeping in line at the coffee shop.

No one would have blamed me.

As you can see in the dramatic reenactment, he was no match for me. However, in retrospect, I very well could have almost beaten down a Ronald McDonald impersonator, so maybe it’s better this way.

This doesn’t bode well

Fortune cookie

Well, crap. We all know what this means.

I guess I can expect a visit from management.

Sheesh.
