This blog is really more of a brain dump than anything else - a place where I can shake out my brain and sift through the debris. Like an excited child who finds a shiny nickel, I just feel like sharing what I find with the world.

Larry, wasn't he the 'lounge lizard' from that early 80s C64 game? I'm sure no one would want to be associated with that.

See, the problem with these very nifty and very free apps like GCal etc, is that in order to be able to use them, you have to understand what they're about, like you said. Being social on Google is an entirely different matter from being sociable, say, next to the coffee machine. And a lot of users don't get that, just type in this or that, and then they cry. Sad really.

Oh, well, you should really link me up with that yard sale guy though. If it's uninteresting, live and during office hours, you know I don't want to miss it. Ah, the internet indeed.

The funny thing is that the technology that got these folks into trouble is the "traditional" web technology, only made easier with Google's one-click. If we ever get to the point where you can look up a cell pone number and it tells you where the users is via GPS some folks will be headed back to rotary phones.

By the way, yesterday I watched a live feed of a local guy in Phoenix having a yard sale. I would normally be completely disinterested, but since it was on the web, and I was at work, it was funny to watch.

I love the internet.

That's brilliant. I'm afraid I laughed when I shouldn't have.

As for GPS devices, well, yep I'm with Emon, I like them too but I've just never ever managed to get my head around the point of sites like Twitter so with any luck I will be able to continue to meander the streets or lurk the web undetected.

Cheers

I personally think the GPS addition to most devices these days to be exciting. Imagine all those people who can be tracked when they get lost. At the same time, yes, when people can know where you're not, it is cause for concern.

Didn't know about BrightKite. I'm guessing both Twitter and Jaiku will enable GPS pretty soon.
