Finding your inner bumble bee

August 15th, 2007 Posted in Doodles, Personal

Blind MelonI just read fellow blogger Emon’s article (is epiphany too strong a word?), where he encouraged his readers to find their “inner bumblebee,” referencing of course the bumble bee character of Blind Melon fame. In an offline discussion, I jokingly modified his avatar to be wearing a bee costume, which led to him coming up with a suggestion that we all develop your inner bee and send it in, until there is a community of bees, all happy with where they are in life, together.

Since drawing myself as the Camaro Bumble Bee from the summer blockbuster Transformers was proving to be difficult, I went this direction.

The best part about being a bee is the best part about being a bee.

You need to know something Drinker…the best advice you’ve ever given anyone in your life was what you told me about coping with what life gives you and making the most of it. It wasn’t necessarily earth shattering in that way and God knows it was something I’ve heard before, yet for some reason, at the time–at the place I was, it made astounding sense.

Sometimes the Universe won’t give us what we want, but it will always give us what we need.

    Thanks again for prompting delivery!

    Laurie

Wow. That first line required reading and re-reading, but now I have my head around it.

No problem Laurie. I’ve always been a big believer in our attitude being the predominant force in our lives, and it just seems to bear out. Many people don’t take that comment in the spirit it was given, so it falls on deaf ears. Glad you were able to use it when you did.

    Cheers.

I’m very attracted to your inner bumblebee. Is that wrong? I poured honey all over myself and sunbathed. Do you think I need help?

  4. Joe Drinker Says:

You mean help, as in a professional wth a couch, or help in getting rid of the honey? Because I could go either way.

I love the google ads that appear on this page! Who knew there would be google ads for bumble bee costumes (and for bargain prices, at that!)?!

  6. Joe Drinker Says:

I know. It’s almost worth the stupid look of it just to see what kind of word association it comes up with.

Ah jeez, does this mean I have to do something embarrassing? I don’t think they make bee costumes in my size!

But I guess it would be kinda funny, me with the 11 o’clock shadow and a big, smoky cigar hanging out of my mouth.

  12. Nicole Says:

    Yes, Brian. Let’s see it!

  13. Angela Says:

I second Nicole. All I’d add in addition to the cigar is a can of budweiser.
